Diego Taboada from Buenos Aires (Argentina)

2005-07-23

Diego Taboada now runs a thriving brasserie in central Marbella. His customers, both locals and tourists alike, enjoy a range of typical Spanish and Argentinian dishes. Diego has successfully tapped in to the local community by providing a quality menu at reasonable prices using fresh local produce from his traditional kitchen, whilst at the same time he has captured the both the local South American community and the imagination of the passing tourists by whetting their appetites by cleverly installing a large “Asador” (open charcoal grill) at the entrance to the restaurant which has a wide range of typically prepared Argentinian meats sizzling away on full view from the street.

Asked why he feels the business is enjoying continued growth Diego notes

“The cosmopolitan nature ofMarbella and Spain in general together with the overall economic climate in Europe has meant that our ideas and efforts have been rewarded much quicker than we could have ever imagined back in Argentina.”

“My family are now able to enjoy a wonderful lifestyle here in Marbella, based around its healthy climate, the beaches and the never ending range of pastimes, social and sporting activities.”

“All this has been made possible by virtue of our new found financial freedom through our business success, but it is Lawbird that we would like to thank for arranging the work visas and residency for all my family here in Spain. We now enjoy both financial and mobility freedom as we can now visit friends and family back home whenever we want as well as being able to travel to virtually any other European destination for a holiday or short visit.”

Diego sent his application to Lawbird in March 2002. We applied for work permits with residency for Diego, his wife and father , their two daughters and his cousin Maximo (who now works in the restaurant). Within six months the appropriate papers had been authorised and shortly after this Diego leftBuenos Aires and arrived inMarbella. After having secured the locale and licenses for his restaurant, we also assisted with all the legal and administrative procedures in setting up the business.

Diego recalls, “Lawbird kept us advised on the progress of our application on a very regular basis which gave us complete confidence in the procedure whilst we remained in Argentina. We were clearly overjoyed when we were told that our application had been accepted and were impressed with the way in which Lawbird continued to help us with ongoing support and advice even after our arrival in Spain.

As part of Lawbird´s commitment to customer service we are always at hand to advise our successful applicants on all ongoing matters, helping them to maximise the benefits of their Spanish residency and new lifestyle benefits. Such examples of these are social security and healthcare. Residents in Marbella take these benefits for granted but as Diego points out “Fortunately we have had no real cause to use the extensive Government healthcare facilities by which all of my family are now covered, but having the peace of mind that one of the most modern, technically advanced and highly reputed hospitals in Europe is only three kilometres from our home and business, it is very reassuring.”
